I have been immersed in a big wide world of Adobe Photoshop CS6, Monitor Calibration, sRGB Colour Space and many more such things! You see, whilst I am studying photography, my course does not cover Photoshop. I have to learn that separately and I am doing that via YouTube tutorials, reading books and a Facebook forum that I have come across. I have learnt that in order to be a ‘proper’ photographer, you simply must calibrate your monitor. SO, I have calibrated my monitor using Spyder4Pro (I know – I had never heard of such things before either!). A calibrated monitor is important to ensure that what you see on your monitor is what you will get when the image is printed. Of course there is a lot more to it but I won’t bore you with the details. Now that I have calibrated my monitor, all my images look different! This has resulted in me needing to re-edit many images, particularly because I want to enter a competition.
The competition that I want to enter is run by a local organisation. The theme is “Bayside Life” and you can enter up to three (3) images. If any of my images won, they would feature on a 2015 calendar, in local media, in a quarterly newsletter, and on the organisation’s website. It would be a huge little boost for my confidence and for my yet to get off the ground little business.
After so much learning, calibrating, re-editing and so on, my brain hurts and my eyes can no longer see straight. I could really do with some help in whittling down my image choices to get to the final three to submit to the competition. So far, I have got it down from lots and lots and lots to 14! I need to exclude 11 more – eeek!
If there are three (3) images you like the most out of the ones below, please do let me know in the comments. It will really help! Remember that you can click on an image to see it larger.
If making decisions hurts your head too – don’t worry about working out the three you like the best – just enjoy the photos – but a comment would still be nice! 😉

Thanks so much! I’m off now to give this head (and eyes) of mine a much-needed screen/monitor break.
Ciao for now!
p.s. If you’re wondering whether it is risky to publish my images on here when someone could steal them and enter them in the competition – well I did think about that too. However, the images published here are very low resolution and would be useless for the competition which will be requiring images of a much higher resolution for printing.

It’s so hard picking for a competition isn’t it! I’ve heard about monitor configuring and wondered how out mine is! I like 12, 8, 7 and 2. Good luck xx

Alicia – YES! – it’s so hard! Thanks for taking the time to let me know your fav pics!! Oh the monitor calibration. I found a guru who has step by step instructions on how to do it. Without those instructions I would not have had a clue what I was doing! If you ever need to do it let me know and I’ll point you in the direction of where you can find those instructions 😉 xo

Min a suggestion – print them all off and stick them up on a wall and see which ones jump out at you! x

Great suggestion Steph except it would use up too much ink in my printer and those cartridges are so expensive. Note that I have 3 uni students in my house continually using the printer! 😉 x

Wow Min! Your photos are breathtaking… Difficult choice but I’ll go 1-2-5.

Thanks Rita! I submitted my final 3 yesterday. I needed to get it over with as it was doing my head in. I decided on Images 2, 5 and 6 – so two of your choices made it! 😉 (p.s. I really struggled choosing between Images 2 & 3)
