More about me. It’s Award Q & A time!

liebster2

I’ve been nominated for a Liebster Award x 2!  It really is an honour and I sincerely thank both the nominators for thinking of me and apologise for the delay in me finally putting together this post!

On 16 January – Michelle from Blundermum nominated me.  See her post here.
On 10 February – Zita from It’s Time nominated me.  See her post here.

I was also nominated for a Liebster Award in October 2012.  If you are interested, you can read that post here.

I must say, I really like this new looking 2013 Liebster Award you see pictured above!!

So what is a Liebster Award? The award is given to support and recognise up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers (on their blog) or likers (on their Facebook page). The word “Liebster” apparently has German origins and is reported to mean sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome. By following some basic rules (answer 11 questions set by your nominee, write 11 questions of your own and pass the award onto 11 other bloggers to answer) it enables readers to get to know new bloggers and connect with a wider audience.

Rather than do two separate posts, I am answering the questions from both nominations in this one post.  There are some really great questions here!  I had to squirt a little oil in the brain cogs!  You girls really made me think!

Michelle from Blundermum’s Questions

1.      What was the most memorable thing that happened to you in high school?

My 15th birthday party in year 10.  When word got out that I was having a party, I become extra popular for some reason (haha).  You can read about my 15th birthday party here.

2. Crunchy or chewy?

Crunchy!  If we’re talking chocolate for example, my favourites are Dairy Milk Hazelnut and Fererro Rocher … yum!

3. Which song did you last obsess over?

I don’t obsess over songs much but I do recall getting stuck on Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’ for a long time.  I could not get it out of my head.  I still love it and I still absolutely love her voice!

4. The thing that ticks you off, over and over again is….

Injustice, betrayal, and my husband leaving the toilet seat up!

5. Ever gotten mad at someone over something they did in your dreams?

Yes!  I’ve also cried in my sleep!

6. If you travelled back in time to the year 1845, what’s the first thing you would sneakily invent and claim credit for?

Hmm…this is an interesting question.  I’m reading a book at the moment that is set in the mid-late 1700’s and what concerns me most about that time is the lack of medical knowledge and/or antibiotics!  Antibiotics still weren’t developed in 1845 so if I were smart enough (not likely haha) I would invent those!  For comfort, I would invent running hot and cold water.  It would drive me crazy having to trudge for miles with a bucket to get some water and then having to heat it before bathing.

7. Why did you start blogging? No, really.

I started blogging for me.  I wanted and needed a creative outlet.  I’m re-creating my life and if I think things out, which is what writing helps me to do, it helps me get to the core of what I’m thinking and feeling.  I also had this idea to do a 365 Grateful Project.  There is no fun in doing a project such as this if it is not shared.  Another reason for my blog is photography.  I have always been interested in learning more about photography.  Having a blog gives me reason and motivation to want to take photographs.  It’s a thrill to share a photograph that I am proud of.

8. Favourite guilty pleasure.

Chocolate.  See question no. 2!

9. If your blog had a soundtrack, what would be its top 2 songs?

Oh wow!  This is a hard question … but a bloody good one!!  I’ve had to think for a while on this but here goes:

10. An example of one of your laziest moments.

Um … one of my lounge days – coffee and snacks and TV … OR one of my can’t stop reading my book days!!

11. There is no 11. My OCD says I’m not allowed.

That’s ok.  I’m a bit like that.  10 is a much nicer number – sort of rounds off much better!

Zita from It’s Time’s Questions
1. Favourite quote/saying?

I love so many!  I can’t say a favourite – but one that is driving me at the moment is ‘Love What You Do’.

2. Entree or dessert?

Well this is an interesting one.  I never used to be a dessert person.  I prefer savoury to sweet.  As I’ve got older though there are some desserts I love.  I don’t have dessert as a rule.  If I’m out at a restaurant I’d pick either a dessert or an entrée but not both.  Depends which one is more appealing to me.

3. Who would you want to play you in a movie about your life and why?

OMG – well it would have to be someone vertically challenged (I hate saying I’m short).  I’ve always loved Sally Field so maybe her.  I’m not as old as she is now but yep she would be my pick I think.  When I was in a singing group some years back, my friends within that group often compared me to Stevie Nicks.  I think that was more about the voice though than the looks…I’m not sure.

4. Favourite holiday of the year?

I’m one of those people who love the cold.  I have only seen snow once and it took until I was in my 40’s before it happened.  We went south on holidays stopping in a various places staying with relatives for short stays.  My favourite part was when we stayed at Jindabyne and went up to Thredbo where I saw and played in the snow for the first time ever.  The next trip that I hope to take is to Tasmania (at a cooler time of year).

5. Childhood hero?

I can’t remember having a childhood hero?  I guess my parents.  I thought they were the most smartest, amazing people in the world who could fix anything and make everything better.

6. What book are you currently reading?

Diana Gabaldon’s – ‘Voyager’ – the 3rd book in the Outlander series.  Fantastic series!

7. Guilty pleasure?

See my answers to No’s 2 & 8 in Blundermum’s questions above.

8. Why did you start blogging?

See my answer to No. 7 in Blundermum’s questions above.

9. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be and why?

I’d like to have a lot more self-confidence and I’m sneakily adding a second … and I really wish I could love exercise!!

10. Diamonds or Pearls?

Hmmmm….probably diamonds but I do love pearls also!

11. What do you know about blogging now that you wish you knew when you first started?

That there is a hell of a lot to learn and that the blogosphere is huge.  I had no idea!

TaDa!  22 Questions answered!  Did you learn much more about me?

I’m choosing not to forward on this award by nominating  22 or even 11 bloggers.  This is not because I don’t think there are many deserving recipients but because I struggled to find 11 new bloggers that hadn’t already been nominated for a Liebster Award back in October 2012 and am finding it difficult again on this occasion.  However, if you are a new blogger who has not yet received a nomination for a Liebster Award and would love one…and you happen to be reading this, please get in contact with me and I would be very happy to nominate you and set 11 questions for you to answer!

    • LOL – Goss? I must re-read what I said! 😉 I reckon if you were nominated before you had more than 200 followers you could still do your liebster post 🙂
