Today’s grateful is more about my words than my photograph. The collage of photos above is a selection of snaps I took with my phone today, so not a beautiful photograph taken with my gorgeous Nikon camera but still probably one of the most heartfelt gratefuls so far.
Today I went out for lunch with a very good friend. We went to a restaurant I have never been to before. She had been there once before and had highly recommended it. It is called Due East Restaurant and Bar and is at Gumdale – just a short drive from where I live. She was right about the restaurant. I highly recommend it too! It is all very new and fresh. The decor is beautiful – very cosy but chic. The service was outstanding and the food was beautiful! It also has a beautiful outlook over some bushland. I was very impressed and will most definitely be going back!
We were there for four (4) hours! We can talk for hours and hours and never, ever do we have awkward silences where we try to think of what to talk about. Our conversation flows and is endless. We could talk all day. In the end, since the restaurant had emptied and we were the only ones still left there, we supposed we should consider going home!!
I really needed this outing today. I needed to get out of the house. I needed a change of scenery. I need a good offload and chat with my friend.
I need good girl friends like I need air to breath, food to eat, water to drink. I have quite a few friends, but only a few that I would consider close, genuine, real true blue girl friends. These are the type of friends where I can be free to be myself and express myself without fear of any judgement. The type who just *get* me. They understand me. They accept me for who I am – faults and weaknesses included. When I am with them, it is like a good therapy session. We offload our joys and our worries to each other. We lift each other up when we are down. We encourage and support each other with all our endeavours. We help each other make decisions. We give our honest opinions to each other. We help each other through tough times and celebrate together all the good times. After time spent together – we feel lighter – our burdens and joys have been shared, assessed and discussed. We are not alone. As long as we have these very special friends – we are never alone. This is a wonderful thing. 🙂
I don’t know who the author of this quote is, but it is so very true:
Friendships double your joys and divide your sorrows
I am so very grateful and thankful for my close genuine girl friends without whom my journey through life would be so much harder. You know who you are. Thank you and all my love to you.

This is truly beautiful Min!!! I’ve actually never been lucky enough to have a really close girlfriend. I’ve got friends of course (lots), but no one that I am close enough to to be able to share things with, and trust. I envy you, and am happy for you :-). Much love, Meg xo

Thank you Meg! I have quite a few friends but very few of those very close friendships. I am always here as your friend. You have a beautiful soul and spirit and are so kind. If ever you want to chat or offload you can message me via FB or send me an email (you can find my email address on my blog). Hugs, Min xo

i need this too Min! I have some wonderful girlfriends who I don’t see enough. But I saw an old friend from school today after years and years and the conversation was quite awkward and stilted. Made me sad.

Hi Sarah – so happy to hear you have some wonderful girlfriends! Ohhh bit sad about the old friend you met with today. That has happened to me too…where I’ve met up with an old school friend who I haven’t seen in years and years. We reminisce about the old days and then the conversation stalls. Our lives have gone down different paths and we no longer have anything in common except the past. Sad…but it happens. Min xo

I feel like I could have written this post myself! I like the quote “Friends are the family we choose ourselves”… Some of my close friends and I have been known to go out for Morning Tea, which has turned into Lunch, which has turned into Afternoon Tea and had them packing up around us to close and we still haven’t had a pause in the talk!! Great isn’t it!!
