Let’s Catch Up!

Hello there!

You may have noticed last week that apart from my 365 Grateful photo’s it has been a little quiet here at MinsMash!  I think it’s time we had a little catch up.  Let me fill you in on happenings over the last week!

There is a new baby in the house!

Yes, having a new puppy is like having a new baby.  It is very tiring….but oh my goodness…she is so precious and adorable.  We love her!

Ava is sleeping in a crate at night.  The first night she slept until 1am.  I took her outside for a wee and then straight back to bed.  She then slept till about 5am.  I took her out for a wee etc again, fed her breakfast, played with her for about an hour and then back to bed.  This pattern sort of continued for a few days.  Then she slept through until 4:20am the other night.  Last night she slept through until 5:20.  YAY!!  I am going to have to get used to going to bed earlier in order to manage these early mornings! 🙂

She is tiny and can get into very awkward nooks and crannies so we need to watch her constantly.  It helps if we confine her to one section of the house.  Luckily we have doors that close off sections of the house – excellent design! 🙂

Chelseawas a little overwhelmed at first when Ava joined the family.  She loves her now and wants to be where she is and vice versa.  We do have to watch them together though … because when Ava is full of energy and like a little spritzer she pounces and chews at Chelsea which Chelsea does not like at all.  At these times, we often need to separate them.  Other times, they are lovely together as you can see from the photo below!

MissM is right into rehearsals for Aladdin and his Wonderful, Magical Lamp

Performances will be matinees on weekends from 2 February through to 23 March 2013.  It is a children’s production – so if you live in Brisbane – why not bring your kids along and see my MissM perform as Princess Jasmine!

An update on an earlier post

Remember a post I did on ‘My secret new reading genres‘?  I updated on Facebook but for those of you who don’t see my Facebook page, here is the update:

  • I read ‘The Host’ again and loved it just as much as the first time!  Great book!
  • With regards to the ‘Mortal Instruments’ series: Ooopsy – turned out I have read them all before but had forgotten. I still read them all again and they are great! I really must start recording books I read in a book to keep track!
  • I’m afraid I found ‘A Company of Swans’ boring and stopped reading it. It just didn’t draw me in. I did find a great quote from that book though!  It was a quote by Emporer Marcus Aurelius:

Live not as though a thousand years are ahead of you. Fate is at your elbow; make yourself good while life and power are still yours.”

I won something!

Yesterday, it came to my attention that I had won ‘The Blogess Memoir’ (a book) for the most views on the forum of The Kids Are All Right in November – for my post ‘Schoolies – I slept with my phone last night‘. Thank you so much to The Kids Are All Right and to everyone who read and commented on that post! 🙂

Summer is here!

In Australia, summer officially starts on 1 December but the heat ramped up well before then.  Tomorrow is expected to be 39-40 degrees celcius.  I am very thankful that I have ducted air-conditioning and a pool!  I do not cope well with heat.  I think I was meant to live somewhere cooler than Brisbane, Queensland!!

My parents celebrated their 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary on 1 December 2012

I am so blessed to have parents who have a stable and happy marriage and am thrilled to have celebrated their 50th golden wedding anniversary yesterday – something they should be very proud of. 🙂  You can see their anniversary cake here.

That’s about all I can think of for now.  I will try to pick up the number of posts I do this week … but it most likely won’t be as regular as before puppy Ava for a little while.  She is quite time-consuming 😉

Have a fantastic week everyone!
