Pandanus Beach at Wynnum is a secret little haven. Of course it doesn’t have crashing surf and doesn’t stretch for miles like our neighbours at the Sunshine Coast or the Gold Coast, but it is our little bit of beach near home and it is unique! You see, Pandanus Beach is a man-made beach – just 16 km’s east of Brisbane city. It is adjacent to a traditional children’s playground and a water play area for children and just a hop, step and a jump away from the Wynnum Wading Pool.
This area is a children’s paradise and a lovely outing for families. The park provides all necessary facilities such as changing rooms, showers and toilets. There are water bubblers a plenty and nearby takeaway cafe’s and fish and chip shops. There are plenty of picnic tables or you could spread out a rug in the shade under one of the beautiful big fig trees, relax and enjoy!
This area is very popular on weekends with families visiting from all over Brisbane to enjoy all that it offers … and a heads up for mums and dads – on weekend’s you will usually find an ice-cream van very conveniently located in the nearby car park!
During the week it is less populated and offers a quieter and more reflective paradise where the sounds of the ocean and bird life can be appreciated and a quiet coffee looking out over the water can be soothing and restorative. As my children are now older, this is when I like it the most 🙂
Photographs were taken by me (from my phone whilst on a walk) except for the water play photo which was sourced from visitbrisbane.com.
